We Believe

We are a Bible believing, Christ-centered church. To write all our beliefs would be to reproduce

the Bible, word for word. We try to teach and practice what we find in the Bible, nothing more,
nothing less. Below are some convictions that we hold of highest importance.

We believe the Bible is the inspired and complete word of God. It is the divine standard for
every age and every life. (Click on I Timothy 3:16, Revelation 22:18-19, Psalm 119:105)
We believe there is one God in three persons; Father, Son, and Spirit. (Click on John 10:30, John
17:21-23, I John 5:7)

We believe God created all that exists, and that He loves us more than we can ever imagine.
(Click on Genesis 1:1, I John 4:7-8)

We believe God’s desire is to have an intimate relationship with the humans He created.
Unfortunately, humans sinned, causing a separation between humans and God. (Click on Isaiah
59:2, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)

We believe the only path back to God is through Jesus Christ. (Click on John 14:6)

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God, was born of a virgin, lived a fully sinless life, died on a cross
for our sins, rose from the grave to conquer death, ascended into heaven, and now sits at God’s
right hand, advocating for His followers. Because of what Jesus has done, sin no longer
separates God from His people. (Click on John 1:1, Matthew 1:21, Luke 1:26-38, Hebrews 4:15,
I Corinthians 15:1-4, Acts 1:9-11, Romans 3:24, I Peter 3:21-22)

We believe the Holy Spirit is a person, is God, and shares all the qualities of divinity. We
believe that God’s Spirit is active in the world, dwells within Christians, and exists to make us
more like Jesus. (Click on Psalm 139:7-10, John 14:26, John 16:8-11, I Corinthians 6:19,
Galatians 5:22-23)

We believe that we are saved by God’s grace, through faith, and not by our own works. (Click
on Ephesians 2:8-9)

We believe baptism by immersion is a necessary response of faith to God’s gift of grace. It is
not a work that we do to earn God’s favor, but a work that God does for us. Because we
believe that baptism is an individual choice based on faith, we do not practice infant baptism.
(Click on Acts 2:38, Romans 6:1-4, Galatians 3:27, Colossians 2:12, I Peter 3:20-21)

We believe the Church is the community of Jesus followers who love each other
wholeheartedly, care for each other fervently, and help each other sacrificially. We believe the
Church is God’s chosen instrument to carry the Gospel to our world through evangelism. (Click
on Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:42-47, I Corinthians 12:12-26)

As a non-denominational body, we believe in the autonomy of congregations to have their own
spiritual leadership, taking guidance and direction solely from God’s Word and the Holy Spirit.
At Mandarin, we are (will be) led spiritually by a plurality of shepherds (Click on Acts 14:23,
Titus 1:5)

We believe in the power of prayer. We believe that God hears our prayers offered through
Jesus Christ, and He responds according to His sovereign will. With Jesus as our high priest, we
need no other intermediary. (Click on 2 Chronicles 7:14, Matthew 6:9-13, John 16:23-26,
Hebrews 4:14, James 5:13-16)

We believe in the unity and harmony of a cappella, congregational singing as found in the
churches in the New Testament. (Click on Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16)

We believe in the importance of remembering the sacrifice of Jesus through communion each
first day of the week. (Click on Acts 20:7, I Corinthians 11:23-29)

We believe Jesus is coming again. His followers will be with Him and with God forever in a
place called Heaven. Those who have chosen not to trust in Jesus will spend eternity separated
from God in a place called Hell. We have no idea when this will happen. (Click on I Corinthians
15:51-58, I Thessalonians 4:13-18, Revelation 22:7,12,22)

We believe our best days as a church lie ahead.
